Luke Marshall is a singer songwriter and artist based in Adelaide. He was born in Alice Springs and grew up in the coastal town of Port Lincoln. Luke first started playing guitar and writing music around the age of 14. It was an instant love affair that has always been a constant in his life.
After high school Luke travelled overseas for a few months where he met so many incredible musicians, street performers and artists. It was this experience that pushed Luke into sharing his music and performing live.
“Performing live for people is such an elevating experience, being able to tell a story and transcend communication barriers. Music is so much more than just sounds and words, its an energy that is shared by the performer and audience and something that is unique to each show” – Luke.
Writing music for Luke has always been an escape, a way of dealing with both positive and negative experience’s in his life. His lyrics are reflective of this, with a mix of raw and honest feelings that paint both a dark and light picture.
Luke’s original music can best be described as dreamy alternative folk, and he is inspired by artists such as City and Colour, Gregory Alan Isakov, Bob Dylan and Ry X.His live show is intimate and enchanting, expressing feelings of love, loss, dreams and emotional spaces.
Luke has been performing regularly around Adelaide since August 2014 and has just released his debut EP ‘Forest by the Sea’. He is set to embark on a series of shows up the east coast with friends in December.
