When Steve Gower takes the stage, you don’t get copycat cover versions, backing tracks or electronic loops. What you get is authentic, old-school, analogue musicianship.
Steve plays the blues and delves into the roots of rock’n’roll, performing original songs and interpreting classics in his own inimitable style.
Vocals, guitar, harmonica and foot-percussion provide his unique, honest sound, and his extraordinary ability to play three instruments at once ensures it’s no generic, colour-by-numbers act. Steve’s stage presence, interaction with the audience and skilful improvisation mean that no two performances are the same.
A skilled songwriter, Steve mixes his own songs with pieces from Muddy Waters, Johnny Cash, Louis Armstrong, Elmore James, Bo Diddley, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley and more. But he doesn’t do ‘covers’, he makes the songs his own.
His organic, home-baked approach even extends to his instruments. His guitars include a brass baritone tricone resonator, custom built by Aussie guitar guru Greg Beeton, as well as a custom parlour acoustic made by Tim Wright in Mount Barker. The sounds are delivered through a 1950s Tweed Deluxe valve amplifier, which provides a rich, mellow
tone, just perfect for the blues.
Steve is a musician. It’s all he does. He’s spent years honing his skills, and it shows. He can read a crowd, raising the tempo when it’s time to party and keeping it smooth and mellow when it’s time to kick back. He plays real music with real flavour, and he’s ready to play it for you.
